6 Date Night Activities For You And Your Sweetie

What’s more fun than date night with your sweetheart?

After all, it’s your opportunity to go out and explore the world around you with someone that you care about (or are just learning about!).

We all wish we had more time to plan out a great day or night out on the town, but life can sometimes get in the way.

Fortunately, there’s A LOT to do in Michiana, so we came up with a list of things you can do for a fun night out with your sweetheart that are anything but boring.

TAKE A HIKE

There aren’t tons of hiking trails in northern Indiana, but that doesn’t mean there’s nowhere to go for a walk.

If you don’t mind a bit of travel, head down to Potato Creek State Park. If it’s a gorgeous, sunny day — and not too hot or humid — head over to Indiana Dunes National Park or to Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer, Mich.

For something closer to home, visit the LaSalle Trail, Rum Village, or a trip to the Mishawaka Riverwalk. If you’re looking for something more urban, you could walk around the Granger Paths, which links businesses, several schools, and community locations together.

GET SPORTY

If you’re a sports fan, there’s nothing better than a night at Four Winds Field to watch the South Bend Cubs, or to any number of Notre Dame games.

If participating in sports is more up your alley, make a splash with your date by taking a trip down the East Race Waterway. If staying cool indoors is more your style, a trip to one of the area’s bowling alleys — like Chippewa Bowl or Strikes and Spares — may be in the cards.

SEE A PERFORMANCE

Live music and shows are perfect for spending time with the special someone in your life.

Music and shows are happening constantly at the Morris Performing Arts Center (the Fridays By The Fountain during the summer is a great option) and the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center during the school year in South Bend.

In Mishawaka, the Battell Center offers options for art events, and in Elkhart the Lerner Theatre does the same.

VISIT THE ZOO

The Potawatomi Zoo has expanded and added many more animals and events in the past several years, which makes it a must-stop date night location.

If you and your sweetheart are animal lovers, what better way to spend date night than surrounded by animals while participating in fun events like Zoo Boo and Gift of Lights.

If you’re a frequent visitor of the zoo for date night, a yearly membership would make a great gift for your significant other.

VISIT A RESTAURANT

This is a tried and true date night idea. But, after a year of COVID-19, returning to normalcy is a good thing. Plus, restaurants — especially local ones — could use your business.

If you’re looking to spice things up, consider trying a new type of cuisine that’s out of the norm. Pizza, burgers, and fries can be great for hanging out at home, but going out on the town should be special.

Just make sure you leave room for...

A TRIP TO URBAN SWIRL

After enjoying a nice meal (or honestly, any other date night idea on this list), there’s nothing better than ice cream or frozen yogurt (froyo).

With 21 different soft-serve flavors, more than 18 hand-dipped flavors from Graeter’s ice cream at all times, and more than 60 different toppings, you can both indulge your sweet tooth however you see fit.

If you can’t decide on what to try, you can order an Urban Swirl Flavor Flight. You can create a sampler of six different hand-dipped or soft-serve flavors to try — toppings included!

If the weather is nice, you can even enjoy your sweet treat outside on the patio.

If it’s true love, you can even share your froyo! Though, getting your own may prevent an argument over who ate more hot fudge.

If you’re ready to add some sweetness to your date night, stop by Urban Swirl in Heritage Square in Granger. We offer a wide variety of froyo, hand dipped ice cream, milkshakes, pies, cakes, and even pet treats! Stop in or place your curbside order by calling 574-387-4035.
